Voting by mail has been in the news a lot in recent months, which has created confusion for some voters.
Warren County Board of Elections wants voters to know that mail-in voting remains an option as the November 3, 2026, General Election approaches, and that Warren County Board of Elections staff are available to answer any questions residents may have.
To help residents, Warren County Board of Elections staff will hold special evening hours on October 20th, 2026, and October 24th, 2026. The BOE office will be open until 7 p.m. both days.
In addition, Warren County Board of Elections has put together a guide to assist those who have questions about mail-in voting.
There are several ways to request and return a mail-in ballot. Registered voters may request a ballot to be mailed to:
- Their home address, OR
- Any other address or location they designate.
Those who receive a ballot by mail can return it in several ways:
- By Mail: Use the postage-paid return envelope. The ballot must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, November 3 (Election Day). The Board of Elections recommends that voters personally bring their ballot to the post office and ask for a “hand cancellation” postmark.
- At the Board of Elections: Drop off the ballot at the Warren County Board of Elections office or the outside Ballot Drop Box Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- At any Early Voting Poll site: Drop off the ballot at any of the three Early Voting sites in Warren County.
- On Election Day: Drop off the ballot at any Warren County polling locations on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, from 6 a.m to 9 p.m.
- Someone you trust may return your ballot for you. You do not have to personally deliver your ballot.
- Voters can also vote in person at the Board of Elections, which is located in the Warren County Human Services Building, 1340 State Route 9, Lake George, NY 12845
Beginning September 21, 2026, through November 2, 2026, Warren County residents may visit the Board of Elections office to receive a ballot in person. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended evening hours will be offered on Tuesday, October 20th and Thursday, October 22nd, the office will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Voters may vote their ballot immediately at one of the Board of Elections designated voter privacy stations.
- After voting, voters may return their ballot over the counter at the Board of Elections, mail it back using the postage-paid envelope, or have it delivered to any designated poll site, including any Early Voting poll site.

Important 2026 Mail Ballot Deadlines to remember:
October 24th is the last Day for Board of Elections to RECEIVE by mail or on-line portal application for ballot.
November 2nd is the last day to apply IN PERSON for General Election ballot.
November 3rd is the last day to postmark General Election Ballot. Must be delivered by mail to the Board of Elections by November 10, 2026.
November 3rd is the last day to deliver General Election ballot in person to the Board of Elections or to any Warren County polling location.
