Warren County is mourning the loss of former County Clerk Pam Vogel, who served nearly five decades as a dedicated public servant with the County Clerk’s Office and County Historian Office.

Vogel passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 at the age of 75. She retired December 31, 2023 after 20 years as County Clerk, choosing not to run for re-election after serving five four-year terms in office.

Vogel was elected County Clerk after 28 years as county Records Technician and Records Manager and as County Historian, her tenure with the county starting in 1976. In all, she spent 48 years as a Warren County employee.

Even after her retirement as full-time clerk, Vogel continued to volunteer periodically with the county Historian’s Office into the summer of 2025.

Vogel was an institution at Warren County Municipal Center for nearly half a century, and was remembered fondly by colleagues.

Said Warren County Clerk Carrie Black, who succeeded Vogel in 2024: “Pamela Vogel was, quite simply, the very best of Warren County. For over four decades, she dedicated her entire professional existence to this community. For two decades, she served as our unwavering Warren County Clerk, an office she ran with integrity and professionalism. Her name became synonymous with the efficient, smooth function of our local government. She was a pillar of our operations, but more importantly, a pillar to our community. Pam saw her work not merely as a job, but as a covenant with the people she served. She set a standard of excellence that will stand as her enduring legacy.”

During her tenure, Vogel was praised for her work transforming the County Clerk’s Office into a modern agency that has made records available for viewing and filing electronically for the public. Over 5 million pages of records were digitized during Vogel’s time as County Clerk.

Her efforts to preserve records and make them easily available to the public were recognized in 2017, when she earned a statewide award from the New York State Archives and the state Archives Partnership Trust for “excellence in local government archival program development.”

Vogel also brought the “Return the Favor” benefit program for veterans to Warren County, and was a fixture at the Glens Falls/Queensbury Memorial Day Parade to promote the program for years.

Said Kevin Geraghty, Chairman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors: “Pam Vogel was a tireless worker and her dedication to working for the public resulted in a career spanning nearly five decades. It was not unusual to see her car parked outside the County Municipal Center well into the evening and on weekends, as she stayed as long as needed to make sure her office ran smoothly and efficiently. Pam’s contributions to Warren County will never be forgotten, and we offer our deepest condolences to her loved ones.”

Said Warren County Administrator John Taflan: “The County Clerk’s Office is immensely important in filing and preservation of important documents, as well as operation of our Department of Motor Vehicles Office. Pam was a great leader for Warren County who made sure all aspects of the office ran smoothly. But more importantly she was an outstanding person and was deeply respected by her colleagues, and we will fondly remember the time we spent with her.”

The Warren County Board of Supervisors will observe a moment of silence in Pam’s memory at its meeting on Friday, October 17. The flags at Warren County facilities have been lowered to half staff in her honor as well.
