The Warren County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday named Warrensburg Supervisor Kevin Geraghty to chair the Board of Supervisors in 2026. Geraghty was selected by his colleagues at the January 6, 2026 annual organization meeting.
It was the fifth straight Warren County Board of Supervisors organization meeting in which Geraghty was selected as chair of the board. He has served as chair between 2022-26.
Chairman Geraghty said: “I would like to thank my colleagues for their support as we choose our leadership positions for 2026. We have some obstacles to overcome financially, both from the recent fraud case in which the county was a victim and through budgetary challenges. But I am confident that we have a good team in place to get us through these challenges. I look forward to working with each of my colleagues on the board and our great Warren County employees to continue to keep Warren County a great place to live, work and visit.”
Supervisor Geraghty was nominated to return as chair at Friday’s meeting by Bolton Supervisor Ron Conover. No other supervisors were nominated.
In all, 2026 will be Supervisor Geraghty’s ninth year as chair of the board, as he also spent 4 years as chair between 2013 and 2016.
In addition to his time as chairman, Supervisor Geraghty previously served as Warren County Budget Officer for 6 years, and acting Warren County Administrator for 1-1/2 years between 2016 and 2018.
Supervisor Geraghty has been Warrensburg Town Supervisor since 2006. He was elected town supervisor after a career working in management at the former International Paper Co. mill in Corinth.
He was sworn in as chair of the board on Friday by Warren County Clerk Carrie Black and Deputy County Clerk Linda Morgan.
Chairman Geraghty welcomed five new supervisors to the Board of Supervisors for 2026 – Wayne Butler from Horicon; Jim Niles from Lake Luzerne; Mark Smith from Johnsburg; Doug Beaty from Queensbury and John O’Neil from Stony Creek.
Chairman Geraghty has selected Queensbury at-Large Supervisor Nathan Etu to serve as Budget Officer. Chairs of Board of Supervisors committees will be released in the coming days when finalized.
The Board of Supervisors’ next meeting will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026. Board of Supervisors meetings are open to the public and can be watched here on YouTube.
