Warren County surplus equipment sold on new website

Warren County is using a new online platform to auction off its surplus equipment such as cellphones and computer equipment, and there are a few auctions that are live as of this week.

New York State law requires counties to auction off equipment that is no longer being used, so when technology upgrades occur or vehicles are taken out of service, they are sold to the highest bidder. The proceeds go to the county general fund to defray the tax burden.

Warren County has transitioned to a new website, www.govdeals.com, to auction off surplus items. To find Warren County’s auctions, search “Warren County, NY” in the search box at the top of the web page.

Items are added to govdeals.com as they are taken out of service by county departments. All of the computer equipment and phones have been wiped clean of data.

In addition to surplus county equipment, the auction site may include unclaimed items that were turned in to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office such as kayaks, canoes and pedal boats.
