Warren County police agencies and Warren County STOP-DWI Coordinator Monica Girard announced this week that Warren County will participate in special efforts to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving during the holiday season.
The holidays that many of us spend celebrating with friends and family and looking forward to the blessings of a New Year are also among the busiest travel times of the year.
Unfortunately, more people on the roads means there is a potential for more vehicle crashes. To bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives, law enforcement officers across New York State and STOP-DWI programs will be joining together in a statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign that will start on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 and will end on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Research shows that these type of enforcement efforts can reduce drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20%. Sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols play a key role in raising awareness.
You can help to make a difference by having a sober plan before heading out for a night of revelry. Download the “Have a Plan” mobile device app and you will always be able to find a safe ride home www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp. Impaired driving is completely preventable and all it takes is a little planning.
The Holiday Season High Visibility Engagement Campaign is one of many statewide initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. The Statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign also targets Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day/End of Summer, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Super Bowl weekend and St. Patrick’s Day.
