Warren County Board of Elections will hold special hours for the public on Saturday, February 14, 2026, the last day in this election cycle for voters to change their political party in time for this year’s primary election.

If you need to enroll or update your political party, eligible voters must be enrolled in the political party holding a primary in order to participate in that party’s Primary Election by February 14th, 2026.

Warren County Board of Elections will be open Saturday, February 14th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  to allow voters to handle election-related issues such as changing party affiliation at the deadline.

How to Change Your Party Enrollment:

Deadlines:

An application to change one’s party enrollment for the Primary Election in any year must be received by the Board of Elections no later than February 14th of that year.

February 14th is also the statutory deadline for the Board of Elections to receive from NYS Department of Motor Vehicles a voter’s request to change their party enrollment for this year’s Primary Election.

Therefore, any change of party enrollment via the DMV website must be done by 2 p.m. February 13th to be effective for this year’s Primary Election.

You may also hand-deliver a party enrollment change form directly to your local Board of Elections on February 14th

NYS Election Law §5-304 (3) dictates that a change of enrollment received by the Board of Elections will take effect immediately. But any change of enrollment received by the Board of Elections after February 14th and before or on seven days after the June primary shall take effect on the seventh day after the June primary.
