Warren County Office of Emergency Services is advising the public that two warming centers have opened Thursday, February 29, 2024, as more than 8,400 power outages remain around Warren County from high winds overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
Those in need of a place to stay warm can go to the following locations Thursday:
- Hague Fire Station, 4 West Hague Road, Hague.
- Lake Luzerne Senior Center, 539 Lake Avenue (Route 9N), Lake Luzerne
As of 8:15 a.m. Thursday, 8,409 National Grid customers were without power in Warren County, nearly 20 percent of the county. Outages were most extensive in the towns of Stony Creek, Hague, Lake George, Bolton, Chester and Queensbury, while numerous roads remain closed or limited because of downed utility lines and trees. Cold, windy weather is expected to linger well into Friday.
National Grid has not indicated a restoration time for most customers who have lost power, as many outages are being assessed, but utility crews are on scene in many areas. Some outages may linger into Friday.
In addition, residents in some areas may be experiencing cell phone connectivity issues that is a result from storm damage as well.
Residents are reminded to never touch utility lines and to call 911 when spotting a line that is down. Those wishing to report non-emergency storm damage in Warren County can do so online through warrencountyny.gov/stormreport.
